I saw a home and filled out the CONTACT INFO. Received a response that turned out to be a RENTAL SCAM! Scenario: engineer, job out of country, LOW rent for area, inc utilities. Said he is in Manila...
. Pushed for application. He is NOT the owner of the house at 3700 Chapparal. This person now has my NAME, PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL. This is the SECOND rental scam I found on HOTPADS and wonder why there isn't better protection. Why doesn't HOTPADS screen people who place rentals? Granted I didn't get scammed, but SOMEONE will! 2512 MARQUETTE is same scam. IF people fall for this scam, they likely will also have an IDENTITY THEFT considering the information given on an application. HOTPADS needs a better process in place. WHY aren't people screened? You must have a HotPads account to post. If you already have an account, please login or create an account.
