Is there any official word on whether the first time home buyer offer is going to be extended beyond April 30th?
I am a first time home buyer and am wanting to get in on the $8000 tax credit for purchasing my first home. As it stands I believe I have to be under contract by April 30th 2010, and close before June 30th 2010. I have heard rumors regarding a potential extension. has this occurred, or are there any official positngs about this?
At this point, you are going to have to rush to take advantage of the First Time Home Buyer tax credit, it has yet to be extended for a second time. Here in DC, there are rumors of more jobs bills to get pumped through Congress but I have not heard of an intention to extend the home buyer tax credit. But even if you miss the deadline of April 30th, there could still be some good deals out there that still make financial sense. No reason to rush and make a possibly $100k bad decision for an $8k tax credit.
Ryan, To my knowledge there is no extension being considered. They have extended to Military with some restrictions. You are correct in that the Contract must be executed on or before 4-30-10,and must close on or before 6-30-10. You still have a couple of weeks to look, in my area we have newlistings coming on everyday, I'm sure Dallas does as well. Have funlooking.
I have not heard of an extention. You still have time to find a great place and sign a contract by April 30th. It's a buyer's market! I would be glad to help you. Feel free to call me with anyquestions you have.
