I work downtown, but want to move with some friends to Georgetown. Has anybody had any experience with the commute? I know there's no metro, but there's gotta be an easy way right?

I know there's buses, but do people actually use them? How bad is the walk to Foggy Bottom or Dupont metro stations?

Shana,

Lots of people take the buses from Georgetown, and there are a ton of lines that run through it. The Circulator is awesome and basically follows K street past the White House, and then Mass down to Union Station.

WMATA.com is also a great tool to help you plan your route out on the main lines.

In terms of walking to the metro, it depends on if you are in East or West Georgetown. But, I live on the east side and it's about a 12 minute walk to Foggy Bottom and less than 20 to Dupont, so definitely not bad.

Do you have a car? It's not terrible to find parking during the week, but it is pretty bad (as I'm sure you know) during the weekends to find street parking.

If you don't, I second the bus idea. It's pretty easy, everyone does it, and Georgetown is a great place to live

Shana,
I actually just discovered the Blue Georgetown Connect bus last night(after living in Georgetown for 2 years...) It takes you right from Georgetown directly to Dupont Circle and it cost $.50 if you show your metro smart trip card. If you don't have one, it's still just $1. It supposedly runs every 10 minutes from 7am- midnight Monday-Thurs, 7am- 2am Fri & Sat

I'll definitely be using it more in the future:
