my husband and i just relocated to portland, oregon. i start my job next week. we just want a studio apt, but can't seem to find any that accept dogs without a crazy non-refundable charge.
any suggestions? we really want to get settled, and we've been here for three weeks already!
Oregon changed their Rental laws as of Jan 1 2010. The charging of a "non-refundable deposit" also known as a "fee"... is now illegal in Oregon. as are a number of other fees that are used to jack up rental prices. check out the link at http://www.dailyvanguard.com/2010-tenant-law-chang... to find out all the details. if you still have trouble finding a rental owner that will rent to you without a "non-refundable deposit" you could always pay the deposit, and argue the point later that the "non-refundable" part is, technically illegal.
