How can I stop my neighbor from using our mailing address?

My husband and I bought our home two years ago. The day after we moved in we got our neighbors mail. I didn't think anything of it until the next day it happened again. Our home us empty for a year and a half before we bought it so she decided to take the address for her own. We have gotten credit card bill and cell phone bills. She even uses the address to get packages. I have went as far as looking the numbers up on the internet and calling the bill company's and telling them that she has stolen the address and they cancel bills. But that has not stopped her. We even have had the police out because f this. She told the police that we took her address. They looked it up on their computer and the address comes up my husband and I. She will stand outside waiting for UPS and FedEx and wave them down to get her packages. We had to move our mailbox cause her kids were taking mail out of the box. We've called the post office and they will do nothing. The police won't do anything because she has told them we are renting where were out and we aren't. We bought it and she knows it. This has been going on for 2 years now and she didn't seem to be stopping. Anyone got any ideas. We even bought security camera's up on our home. She has pulled her pants down in front of my kids and I have had her son throw rocks at me and also she has threaten to shot me in the face with a shot gun and the police won't do anything. I can't even go outside and sit because she starts yelling and she will call the police and tell them I'm outside. Her son has also put on the back of my car in the dirt F*** Bi***. She won't stop them. We have a fence up and no Trespassing signs up. They try and pull the fence down and have taken the signs down and have even shot the signs and thrown them back in our yard. We've even had the property surveyed and that didn't make any difference. Moving is not an opinion. Got any ideas anyone? Thank you.

She sounds like a horrible person! Honestly she seems like a very aggressive person. As far as your USPS mail goes, you should talk to someone IN PERSON at the post office. Go in there and talk to a manager and get their sympathy, stay calm, but express your distress, sugar will get you further than lemons. Tell them that she intercepts your mail and that she opens your mailbox and is fraudulently using your address. Maybe they can help you. Call UPS and FEDEX and ask to talk to a manager, see if they can put some sort of notification under your address. When you get mail or packages that have her name on it, DO NOT give it to her! Cross out your address and write "Return To Sender". And if you're home and UPS/FEDEX try to deliver something of hers to you, tell them that you are REFUSING the package. As far as everything else goes, you need to personally go down to the police station and talk to the sheriff or officers who have not been involved previously. She pulled her pants down in front of your child-that's sexual harassment to a minor! She is breaking so many laws-destruction of property, trespassing, vandalism, harassment, threatening to do harm, attempted assault (her son throwing rocks). Honey, you need to file charges against this woman and show her you're not to be trifled with. Whether you are renting or not, this woman has NO RIGHT to do these things to you! When you talk to the police, bring proof that you rightfully live at your address, talk to someone who will listen and lend you a sympathetic ear. Also you need to start taking pictures of everything that woman is doing or has done if possible. If the police and post office refuse to do anything, then you absolutely need to talk to a lawyer, many of them will do free consultations.A call from a lawyer might put a fire under the local police and "inspire" them to enforce the law properly.

Dana everything you've said I've done. This will shock you. It's not against the law to flash your butt to a child as long as it's not your front. I was told this by our prosecuting attorney. She has even used our address on court papers when she assaulted my son who was 16 at the time and they dropped the charges because the police wouldn't fix the report. There are no police officers that she hasn't called. If we go outside she calls the police. They are saying it's a property dispute cause she tells them it's not our property. She lies about everything. We have taped everything but no one will do anything. Not even the prosecuting attorney will do anything. They say she's not breaking any laws. We don't rent we own this. She doesn't even own where she is beside us. Her father does. We've even told them we can prove we own it and have the papers to prove it but it doesn't matter. The police won't even look at the evidence. I have done everything I can think of with the address. I have talked to FedEx and UPS and they don't give her packages with our address and the mailman now won't give her mail with our address. They send it back but it still isn't stopping her. She is now hiding from the mailman cause he has a letter for you to sign for from a gas company where she is using our address. She knows about what time our mailman goes and she leaves and comes back when the mailman goes. I thank you for all your advice but have done everything you've suggested and have had no results. I was even thinking of contacting our local news and let them show everything she done and see what happens. Don't want to go that far but not sure what else to do. Got any other ideas? I'm all ears and thanks again.

I can imagine why you're so frustrated, what a horrible situation...have you tried contacting your county law enforcement? Other than that you probably should call a news station and let them in on the story and tell them that police aren't helping you. If all else fails, maybe you should put up a big privacy fence around your property.
