I would suggest Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, or Westmont. Those are very close to Naperville, and only about 20 mins or so from downtown. With Oak Brook, Naperville and neighboring Downer's Grove being little cities of their own with great dining & shopping options, I think you will find those are your best options.

I'm from Chicago, But i live in Denver Permanently, If i had the chance to go back and rent search, i would live off lake shore and armitage somewhere. worth the money, worth the dog walks, worth the night life and you still get your relaxed areas that are not soo populated... Just a thought
