Just inside the Capitol Beltway (I-495), Alexandria is easily accessible to Washington D.C. by car. By Metro, there are 4 stops including either or both of the Blue or Yellow lines into Washington D.C. The City of Alexandria provides the DASH bus system to move in the city in addition to the Metrobus buses that travel in and out of Washington D.C.

The two main streets in Alexandria are King and Duke.

The historic district of Alexandria, known as Old Town, is famous for its shopping and waterfront restaurants. Many of the restaurants are famous for their fresh seafood, especially closer to the water. Many important historical landmarks are located in Alexandria including Mt. Vernon, George Washington's plantation and historic home, the Torpedo Factory Art Center and the George Washington Masonic Temple.

Rental prices vary depending on the area in Alexandria. Some apartments are fairly cheap, while many homes in the historic district are very pricey.
